The maximum number of patients to continue providing a high quality of care often caps at 2 patients in a single hour, if there is additional staff to assist in streamlining the care given. This allows the physical therapist to see around 16 patients in an 8-hour workday.
If the physical therapist is hands-on with patients, providing the full range of care, it is not uncommon to see 1.2 patients in an hour on average, allowing the therapist to see 9 patients for a full session each day.
